Hollywood Reporter posted the following:
Jerri Blank, the 46-year-old runaway, former drug addict and high school freshman whom Amy Sedaris created and made famous on Comedy Central's "Strangers With Candy," may soon get her chance at big-screen stardom. Sedaris is teaming with fellow co-creators and stars of the series -- Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert -- to pen a feature film version of "Strangers" for Mark and Lorena Roberts' Silverstar Prods. Although the trio is in the early stages of scripting, producers hope to have it ready for a fall start. The show aired for three seasons on Comedy Central beginning in 1999, quickly becoming a cult hit. It is a dark satire of moralistic after-school specials starring Sedaris as Jerri, a frumpy and unattractive outcast who returned to high school after 30 years of hard living on the streets and in prison. However, the rough times don't end at school as she's forced to mix and mingle with kids who are more hip, beautiful and popular than she is while trying to shed her immoral past. (Chris Gardner)
